How to Get a Library Card

Who can get a card? All residents of Texas are eligible. Children under the age of 18 can also receive a card with the signature of a parent or legal guardian.

What do you need to get a card? You need to show some type of photo identification: a Texas Driver's License, Student id, military id, or employer ID, and verification of current address such as your checkbook, your voter's registration card, a utility bill or mail that is addressed to you with a recent postmark.

How to place a hold/reserve

If you have found an item in our catalog but it is checked out by someone else and you would like to have it reserved/held for you when they return it, follow the steps below:

  • Online:
    • Click on Catalog
    • Click on Login in the upper right corner
    • Type P (space) Your library card number
    • The password is your last name
    • Search the catalog for the item you wish to hold
    • Click on the title and a separate box will appear with the information about the article
