The fifth annual Book and Author Luncheon will again be held at the Spring Hill Event Center on Hwy. 281.  Again the cost is only $50 per person.  Six authors will give a short discussion on his/her book and Cary Clack will be the Master of Ceremonies.

The Friends of the Bulverde/Spring Branch Library would like to invite you to participate in a series of eight free drop in Great Decisions discussions.  Great Decisions is a nationwide program of the Foreign Policy Association, an independant, non-profit organization dedicated to broadening public involvement with the most important foreign policy issues facing the United States.  Briefing books on the eight topics are available for purchase through the library or at the Foreign Policy's Great Decisions website: www.fpa.org/info-url_nocat4705/info-url_nocat.htm Each discussion will include a DVD presentation of the topic followed by an open group discussion.  Topics include: Special Envoys, Kenya & R2P, Global Crime, US/China Security Relations, Global Financial Crisis, Russia and it's neighbors, the Persian Gulf, Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution

TERRORIST AWARENESS WORKSHOP

February 6 & 13, 2010

Jim Palermo's Self Defense Academy will be offering a program free at the library designed to familiarize the general public with potential terrorist activities without falling into a stereotypical response, answering questions such as, "Who do you call?" and "What information is needed?" NOTICE OF ELECTION

Applications are now being accepted to fill three (3) trustee seats on the board of the Bulverde Area Rural Library District (BARLD).  The general election will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 and the first day to file for a place on the ballot is February 6, 2010.  Applications are available at the Bulverde/Spring Branch Library.

All registered voters living within the library district boundaries are eligible to run for the position.  The deadline for filing to have your name on the ballot is March 8, 2010.

The meetings of the BARLD Board of Trustees are held on the second Monday of each month.  The BARLD is a political subdivision of the State of Texas.
